The Mixing Bowl Bakery
614 S. Hampton Rd. Dallas, Tx
(214) 946-4811
(Wedding/Groom/Quincearnera Cakes)

This bakery doubles as a Hispanic fast food restaurant.  Rose Cerda owner of The Mixing Bowl was a very friendly person who answered every question that I had.  In business for 20 years.  She does Buttercream Whip and Fondant cakes.  What I've tasted is very moist, so moist in fact that the cake literally falls apart.  But it is oh so good! I tasted a whip cream with pineapple and strawberry filing. Yummy.  She charges reasonable prices that won't break the bank.  If you happen to go around lunch time the smells of the food will make your mouth water.  The deposit down is whatever you want and to deliver is free of charge. Total payment due at time of event.  Ok I mentioned price, so for a 3-tier cake that feeds 100 people your price will be $175.00; 4-tier cake will run you around $375.00.  Rose does all types of cakes, including brides, grooms and her specialty Quinceanera cakes.  Rose does fondant and can do cakes that look like fondant.  If you want fresh flowers on your cake Rose will provide them.  If you're requesting an anniversary cake she will provide the toppers for an extra charge.  Rose provides albums of pictures of cakes for you to browse through if you don't have an idea of the design of your cake.  If you know what you want and have a picture of the cake Rose asks that you bring it with you and she says she can duplicate it for you.  If you're choosing a groom cake and want fruit in particular strawberries then they will run you $3.00 a berry depending on the time of month. Cakes are baked the night before the event then refrigerated. It's best to call for an appointment so you can taste test Rose's cakes. This is one place that I would call HOT. Go check it out.

(Floral)

This is one of those places that has everything for the creative person.  Located in an old Kmart building.  Not only is it a furniture store but also doubles as a floral kickknack/store. An abundance of artificial flowers for you to select from.  Flowers are priced from $2.99 - $14.99.  Watch out for the glass vases, great for centerpiece decorating and some funky colored glass vases too.  If you're planning to set up a buffet table then you will find very large glass tired stands priced at $59.99, and buffet platters, from $79.99 - $109.99.  For the bride, if you have a color scheme for your wedding then selecting flowers here to compliment your event want be a problem.  What I do see that you will run into is who will be creating your arrangements if you're not sure how to?  I say buy the flowers anyway. Some florist will create a arrangement for you, of course for a fee.  This place has what you need in creating a magnificent display if you're of the budget conscience and dont mind artificial over real flowers.  For the bride that just took those bridal portraits and is in need of way to display them then you will find some nice easel's for to choose from priced at $6.99, they come in gold, black, silver and cooper.   An 8x10 picture will look very nice on one of these.  Display you picture at the entrance of your reception.  Sounds good?  Also, for the newly married couple ready to decorate that unfurnished house, you will find all sorts of items here, from wall pictures to vases, and mirrors and of course the usual furniture items from beds to dinette sets.  I say go for the flowers and wall pictures and other knickknacks.  There is something here for everyone's taste just make sure you go down aisle by aisle.  Sorry, for those of you who love layaway, they do not have it.  If your buying furniture they do deliver.  This is a cash/credit/debit card only business.  This is HOT for the person with that inner florist waiting to get out.
